The Broken Road

Madison Bright loves her father. She loves him so much that she'd marry Garrett Robinson, an egotistical actor she does not love. Garrett has blackmailed her and lied to her to keep her from leaving up him. When he finally proposes, Madison runs away from her life in Los Angeles to the magic that is in Orlando...

Craig Sargeant is a divorced father of two, who sees his kids for a weekend every four weeks.

When Madison meets Craig, they are both two lost souls who feel like happiness has been denied to them. She knows she will eventually need to return to Los Angeles and marry Garrett. But she finds herself falling for Craig.

Blissfully unaware of the drama Garrett is causing in Los Angeles, Madison considers her future ... happiness with Craig but without her family or an unhappy marriage with her family in her life.

What path will she choose along The Broken Road?

Buy on iTunes or Amazon.

I’ve often said that music inspires me. In addition to the songs listed below, I listened to a lot of Beauty and the Beast while writing The Broken Road.

SPOILER ALERT : If you haven’t read the book and don’t want to know how it ends, read at your own caution.

I Didn’t - by Trick Pony

I picked this song because of the title and the lyrics. “He thought he was God and I didn’t.” If you’ve read the story, you understand that this song represents the “proposal” from hell.

Better Life - by Keith Urban

Again, I picked this song because of the title and lyrics. Madison runs away to the magic in Florida, dreaming of a better life.

Fall Into Me - by Emerson Drive

This song represents when they initially began to fall for each other. I love this song.

Kiss the Girl - by Soul II Soul

This song represents them falling in love at Walt Disney World.

Let’s Get Together - by Nobody’s Angel

I picked this song to represent the arrival of Craig’s kids. The song is originally from The Parent Trap.

I Won’t Say (I’m in Love) - by The Cheetah Girls

This song could be on a number of my inspiration playlists. It represents Madison’s struggle to admit her feelings. It is originally from Hercules

Need to Be Next to You - by Sara Evans

It might be obvious what this song represents. I think the title speaks for itself.

Anything, Anytime, Anywhere - by Jimmy Buffett

This song represents the change in Craig and Madison’s relationship.

You Move Me - by Garth Brooks

This song represents Craig’s best friend and his wife, Mike and Julie. It was their wedding song.

Love Doesn’t Ask Why - by Celine Dion

Speaking of wedding songs, this was Craig’s wedding song from his first marriage. It represents the arrival of his ex-wife.

Nothing ‘Bout Love Makes Sense - by LeAnn Rimes

It’s a fact. Nothing about love makes sense.

Crazy - by LeAnn Rimes

This song represents Garrett’s arrival in Florida and a turning point in the story.

I’ll Be Seeing You - by Cyndi Thomson

I picked this song to represent Madison leaving Florida and returning to Los Angeles.

Don’t Know How (Not to Love You) - by Uncle Kracker

And this song represents how Craig feels about her leaving.

I Won’t Hold You Down - by Marcel & Jessica Andrews

This song represents the times Craig arrives in Los Angeles with the intention of winning her back.

One of These Days - by LeAnn Rimes

Along the same lines, this song represents Madison’s feelings each time she turns Craig down.

Together Again - by Martina McBride

This song represents Madison’s sister Hadley. (It’s the title of the fourth book in The Broken Road series.)

Bless the Broken Road - by Rascal Flats

Who doesn’t love a happy ending? This song represents the happy ending. If you were wondering what song Craig and Madison dance to, it’s this one. And it also represents the series (of course).
